nasty chutney Options

Hi Folks

i have made green tomatoe cutney and followed the bbc news food guide

its jared up now but i tasted it and very strong .Does it gets better as you keep it ???

the only thing was the toms i did not do over nite but 5 hours they had with salt the onions strong as come out off garden

So what do you think chuck it or keep it

Im no expert Chrissie but i think its s'posed to improve with age? so maybe keep, & just wait and see......? xx

Green chutny rules from my dearly deprted Aunty our family chutney maker,she amde green chutney all time you need leave it to mature now cartn be eaten straight away at least 1 month.

keep it dark cupbaod lid on.

i love green tomtoa chutney even when matured it is strong thats why aunt made it for my dad see he loves strong flavours u eat tini weeny bit with cheese crackers.

a teaspoon only if that.


so enjoy in 1 montht here you go chutney tip.

i might have been nasty as i had spoonfull while it was cooking .Steve tasted a blob and said it was,nt so bad it was cold and he straped the pan

yeah but golden rule is let it mature bit depending on how strong u like i 2 weeks can do fine,not to long or goes yukky.

Yes, you need to leave it at least a month, possibly 3 if you can manage it. If you try it straight away it just tastes of vinegar, not nice at all. I'm sure it will imjprove with age! I shall be making some plum chutney when the victorias are ready.

With my chutneys I keep them covered at room temp for two days and then place in fridge.
